Avalon council approves consent calendar, $1.89M disbursements; items 7–8 OK'd

At its April 7 meeting the Avalon City Council adopted the consent calendar and approved several discrete actions and permits.
The council approved the minutes from prior meetings, disbursements of $1,887,909.47 for March 2–20, 2026, and a resolution approving application for TD Article 8 funds. The consent calendar included authorization to solicit requests for proposals for professional auditing services for fiscal years ending June 2028, and authorization to execute an agreement with Silco Enterprises for a command-vehicle conversion package not to exceed $80,000 and an amendment to the FY25–26 budget recognizing a $100,000 donation to the fire vehicle replacement fund (account 102456871, CIP project 234501). The council also authorized an expenditure not to exceed $60,000 to L. Larson Boat Shop for rehabilitation of the city-owned shore-boat float (account 104705705).
Council members moved and seconded approval of consent items 1–6 and recorded an affirmative vote ("All ayes"). Separately, Council approved Item 7 (Catalina Coastal Tours transportation permit) and Item 8 (Pedicab Catalina permit on a two-month trial) after public presentations and discussion. Staff will follow up to confirm required insurance, to install Front Street signage related to the pedicab trial, and to report back on the pedicab trial's outcomes.
