Ottawa County commissioners voted Oct. 13 to sign a letter of support for the Golden Wheel Senior Center's SEED grant application after the county clerk presented the request.
Tammi Cox, County Clerk, presented the letter and described the grant application. Commissioner Carla Grund raised staffing concerns at the Golden Wheel, noting the center's cook "today was the last day for the cook." The commission approved the motion to sign the letter of support; the motion was moved by Commissioner Duane Morris, seconded by Commissioner Grund, and passed 3-0.
Why it matters: The SEED grant could affect meal service capacity for seniors; the commission's support is a routine local endorsement but the immediate staffing vacancy may affect service delivery while the center pursues grant funding.
