Board adopts Seminole Forever application and criteria; ARC members reappointed

The Board of County Commissioners voted to accept the Seminole Forever advisory committee’s application form and scoring criteria and reappointed expiring ARC members so the program can begin accepting applications. Parks Director Rick Durr and the ARC presented a year-long process to develop GIS evaluation tools, test cases and scoring metrics built around species vulnerability, connectivity, water-resource benefits and passive-recreation potential.
Durr said staff had been contacted by multiple property owners and organizations interested in applying once the program is active and asked the board to publish the application and begin outreach. The BCC voted unanimously to approve the criteria and reappointments and directed staff to publish the application and notify interested parties.
