Andrew Hawkins, director of Legislative Research & Oversight, demonstrated a new public‑facing dashboard that aims to make council activity and outstanding directives more transparent to members and residents. Hawkins said the dashboard will show a 14‑day forward/back view, link to the LEMS files and allow wildcard searches; it currently reports 774 total council acts, 19 ordinance acts, 237 resolutions and 520 action items.
Hawkins described ongoing improvements: automating data updates, adding an audits tab, improving search fields, and expanding cross‑committee functionality. "The whole idea behind this was trying to figure out how we can make this more transparent, provide more information both to council and residents," he said.
Council members praised the tool as a transparency gain and discussed refinements such as editorial fields and date filters. Hawkins said the dashboard will continue to evolve and that LRO intends to add historical data for prior years and additional tabs, including one for audit findings and responsible departments.
