Resident describes dog attack; board directs ordinance for unleashed and vicious dogs

Christy Ganson, a resident of 410 N. LaFayette, told the Board of Trustees she and her son were walking past 401 N. Niles in April when “two large dogs came running out to her, knocking her down and biting her.” She said she required hospital treatment and has accumulated $3,000 in medical bills while the owner received a $25 fine.
In response, the board instructed the village attorney to draft an ordinance with stronger rules, penalties and fines for unleashed and vicious dogs. Trustees also agreed the village square will not allow dogs during any events. Mayor Deeb said the proposed ordinance will be presented at the next board meeting for review and approval.
