Principals report 100% graduation at AAHS and outline career-pathway plans

Principal Miss Anderson reported that AAHS held graduation on May 16 and said “70 seniors received their diplomas that day,” adding the school achieved a 100 percent graduation rate "for the first time in my knowledge of having an Avon history." She listed student recognitions, including National Honor Society honorees and several students who earned dual-credit associate degrees in partnership with Carl Sandburg Community College.
Miss Anderson also described plans to introduce 'signature pathways' so students can structure their high school electives toward career goals (health sciences, welding, etc.). The district will introduce the paths to sophomores and freshmen early next year and hold a parent meeting; by November she expects students to select a pathway to guide their next four years of coursework.
