DOT outlines Waumandee Creek bridge overlay and several resurfacing projects

Wisconsin DOT representatives told the commission the Waumandee Creek Bridge will be overlaid in a staged, 60‑day operation using temporary signals; resurfacing work on Hy 35/Hy 54, Indian Creek Road and Hy 10 are tentatively scheduled with flagging operations and possible April 23 start dates.
Rick Tumaniec of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation described several upcoming projects affecting Buffalo County roadways. He said the Waumandee Creek Bridge will be an overlay project staged half at a time with temporary signals and that "it is a 60-day project." He also listed resurfacing plans for Hy 35/Hy 54 and Indian Creek Road and said traffic on those projects will be handled with flagging operations; he noted there was "no schedule information yet could possibly start April 23rd." Finally, Tumaniec outlined a Hy 10 resurfacing from the Pepin County line to County Road A.
Commissioners asked about timing for Hy 37; Highway Department staff confirmed Hy 37 work will be completed next year. Engfer and board members also recounted a school-bus ride-along incident in which the emergency brake was triggered.
