Staff proposed a contract addendum to keep the teacher parking lot on a tighter timeline (completion target Oct. 31) while pushing bus‑barn paving into November if EPA testing requires remediation or further review.
Board members asked about alternates and costs. Staff described a $56,000 concrete alternate for the teacher lot (bringing the bid to about $420,350) and discussed life‑cycle tradeoffs: concrete lasts longer (40+ years) versus asphalt (15–20 years with sealcoat maintenance). Members pressed for more detailed line‑item breakdowns from bidders and for coordination with planned HVAC work and other bond projects before committing major bond funds.
The board later voted to table final action on the staff parking lot and bus‑barn bids pending more information about HVAC scope, grading breakdowns, and EPA results.
