Members of the Milestone Robotics team told the board about their season, demonstrated an omnidirectional three-wheeled robot and described the programming and design challenges the team faced.
"We won Coolest Robot," team captain Connor Patch said during the demonstration, describing a custom wheel design the team ordered from overseas after LEGO parts were not available. Presenters explained that competition scoring depends on precise movements (they discussed needing accuracy within about 0.1 inches) and that the team also earned recognition for an innovation project.
Board members and attendees asked about student participation, funding and volunteer needs. Presenters and the board cited sponsor support and fundraising efforts as part of the team's ability to participate in multiple events; the presenters said they would like to expand the program to high school and welcomed volunteers and mentors.
