Schoenchen requests county transfer of small parcel; commissioners agree to begin process

Kyle Zimmerman, representing the City of Schoenchen council, asked the Ellis County Commission July 7 to consider transferring title of a small county-owned parcel in Schoenchen to the city. Zimmerman said the county has owned the property since the 1940s and that the city would likely pay for a survey if required.
County Counselor Bill Jeter advised the board that the county can deed the property while reserving reversionary rights if the parcel ceases to be used for municipal purposes and suggested having the parcel surveyed and asking Schoenchen to pay for it. All three commissioners indicated they had no objections to staff and legal counsel beginning the transfer process; no final deed was executed at the meeting.
