The Ellis County Commission on July 7 approved a 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for county employees, contract positions and elected officials, effective July 5, 2026. County Administrator Darin Myers presented the recommendation based on a three-year Social Security Administration COLA average.
Myers and accompanying materials cited a budgeted cost for the 2026 COLA of $220,186 and proposed adjustments to department budgets to cover the change. The board also adopted Resolution R-2026-14, which lists adjusted 2026 salaries for elected officials including the county attorney, county clerk, county treasurer, register of deeds and sheriff. The motion to approve the budget adjustments and resolution carried by voice vote 3–0.
