The Loveland City Council voted 5–2 to create a Veterans Memorial and Riverfront Advisory ad hoc committee and to affirm the appointments recommended by staff at the July 28 meeting.
The memo presented by staff proposed two members of the veterans committee, two members of parks and recreation, and a member at large (noting Jim Grama as an appointee with an interest in historic preservation). Council Member Hamlin said she was not aware a committee was being formed prior to the packet being issued and objected to the lack of public solicitation for appointment opportunities: "When this meaningful opportunity presented itself, they weren't solicited to apply," she said, and announced she would vote no on the appointments out of respect for transparent process.
The motion to create the ad hoc committee and affirm the staff appointments carried 5–2. Staff said the committee would solicit broad public input while working with the consultant engaged for the Schuldemeier/Veterans Memorial planning process.
