The Loveland City Council voted unanimously to set a public hearing for Aug. 11 to consider selling a conservation easement on a sensitive portion of the Schuldemeier property to the Little Miami Conservancy.
City Manager Dave Kennedy explained the easement would add a further layer of protection for the property's most sensitive 100-foot stretch, complementing deed restrictions already placed under the Clean Ohio program. "That $100,000 allows them an area to do muscle relief releases…they think that was one of the things they immediately caught on," Kennedy said when describing the conservancy's planned work to address scour and replant affected areas. Kennedy and staff characterized the sale as consistent with prior grant and conservation requirements and said formal exhibits had been prepared for the deed of conservation easement.
Council voted to set the hearing and staff said an ordinance for first reading would be brought forward on the August 11 agenda to complete the transaction after public notice and any required hearings.
