Loveland swears in Brett Carlson as new facilities manager

The Loveland City Council administered the oath of office to Brett Carlson, the city's newly hired facilities manager, during its July 28 meeting.
"I, Brett Carlson," Carlson said while repeating the oath and agreeing to "faithfully discharge the duties of facilities manager." Mayor (presiding) welcomed Carlson and said the council and community appreciate meeting new staff in person. City staff had introduced Carlson as someone who has already been "grabbing that ladder" and addressing routine maintenance needs to extend the life of city roofs and other assets.
Council members and staff framed the hire as a cost-saving and preventative step. City Manager Dave Kennedy and assistant staff noted the position will help the city reduce contractor expenses for HVAC and electrical work and support capital planning for the city's buildings. The council did not take a separate vote on the appointment during the oath ceremony; Carlson's oath was administered as part of the regular meeting schedule.
The ceremony was brief and followed by other agenda items, including public comments and a series of land-use and planning actions.
