The Delanco Township Committee introduced Ordinance 2026-13 on Aug. 3, 2026, to amend Chapter 295 (vehicles and traffic) and consolidate permit parking language for Hawkeye Island and riverfront areas. The principal change under discussion was an adjustment to the morning end of the restriction period (committee members debated changing a sunrise/end time previously framed as 8 a.m. to a 7 a.m. start for permitted restrictions).
Committee member Carolyn (speaker 13) urged a 7 a.m. start: "I am suggesting 7AM now." Several members agreed that aligning the permit start with the noise ordinance (7 a.m.) and allowing residents on Vine, Walter and Orchard to obtain permits when they host weekend guests made sense. The committee also agreed to add the 200–300 blocks of Washington to the permitting language to address driveway access and permit eligibility in corner cases.
The ordinance was introduced by title only and a public hearing was scheduled for Aug. 17. Committee members emphasized that permits do not guarantee a specific on-street parking spot but will allow eligible households to secure permit privileges where space allows. No final change to the Hawk Island weekend schedule was made at this introduction.
