Seminole County adopts $1.099 billion FY2024–25 budget and final millage rates

Tim Jeks of the Office of Management and Budget presented the county’s final millage rates and the FY2024–25 proposed budget. Jeks read the rates into the record: the general countywide millage rate at 4.8751 mills (6.90% above the rollback rate); the fire-rescue MSTU at 2.7649 mills (7.18% above rollback); and the unincorporated road MSTU at 0.1107 mills (7.06% above rollback). He said the aggregate BCC taxing district rate is 6.8803 mills and that the total final county-wide budget totals $1,099,097,799.
During public comment several speakers raised operational and service questions, including about the medical-examiner contract and park maintenance. After hearing public comment, Commissioner Constantine moved to adopt the final millage and the final budget as presented; both measures passed unanimously.
Jeks noted a $4,000,000 adjustment in the general fund for the return of behavioral-health funds previously transferred to the Sheriff’s Office; expenditures were adjusted to increase the sheriff's certified general fund transfer accordingly.
