Board hears water system failure, driveway and track planning in buildings committee update

The Buildings, Grounds & Transportation committee told the board that a middle-school booster pump recently failed, temporarily disrupting water flow and prompting an E-Learning day for middle-school students. Contractors rerouted the system to restore pressure; the committee scheduled a full inspection of the well, tanks and pump and will recommend needed improvements, including whether a new booster pump is required.
The committee selected asphalt millings for driveway work at 540 W. Lincoln Highway with cost estimates of $17,270 for the drive and an additional $7,985 for the east side, totaling $25,225. The committee also reported that the FFA building still needs roughly $200,000 to complete piping, floor work and gas-line extensions. The district will seek estimates for a possible eight-lane high-school track and perform no-cost assessments of potential building additions tied to projected enrollment from the Royal Estates development.
