Hillsboro board highlights student selections to ILMEA festival and improved attendance

At the start of the Nov. 12 meeting, board members heard several items of good news. Mrs. Heyen and Mr. Lipe reported that multiple band and choir students will represent the district at the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) festival at Eastern Illinois University on Nov. 23. Mr. Frailey reported 165 students had perfect first-quarter attendance and that absences were down 14.3% compared with the prior period.
Curriculum Director Hope McBrain also told the board that departments are making strong progress on a new grading policy. These items were presented as part of the “Good News” segment of the agenda and were recorded in the meeting minutes.
