Council reviews multiple draft ordinances including mobile food vendor rules and lot-alteration language

Council members reviewed a package of proposed ordinances. Ordinance 2024-11-01 (grocery tax) and Ordinance 2024-11-03 (unlawful parking) were presented with no changes; Treasurer Amy Schneider will review Ordinance 2024-11-02 (hotel/motel tax) with the city attorney before the next meeting.
On Ordinance 2024-11-04 (Lot Alterations and Building Permits), Alderman Mike Risko asked to remove the sentence in Section 2C that limited enforcement to “on more than two (2) occasions within a twentyfour (24) month period,” saying, “I feel that if that can’t follow the ordinance when asked as a business than it should apply right away.” For Ordinance 2024-11-05 (Mobile Food Vendors), Alderman Jeff Soenksen requested that section 4-11-3(H)(1) be revised so double-wide food trucks may operate when prior approval is given by the mayor or police chief.
Council did not adopt any of these ordinances at the Nov. 12 meeting; several items were left for further review or legal consultation.
