Council splits 4–2, tables downtown holiday decorations; two aldermen say BDD funds cover cost

Alderman Jeff Elliott moved to table the item; Alderman Mike Risko seconded. After the roll call (Elliott yes, Risko yes, Soenksen yes, Bergren no, Wolber no), Alderman Risko asked Bergren and Wolber why they opposed tabling the item. Their response: "this item is in the budget for twice the amount requested and we have the funds in the BDD account to pay for it." The minutes do not record a motion to spend BDD funds; council deferred further action.
The disagreement centered on timing and process rather than the decorations themselves; the Finance meeting will revisit budget lines and available BDD funds.
