Commission authorizes $5,977.27 increase to Xybix purchase order after console sizing error

County Communications Director Jeff Ridgway told the board that a pre-order review found four of five quoted dispatch consoles were too small to support the required monitor configuration and that additional correct cables were needed, producing a net price increase of $5,977.27 to purchase order #7999 from Xybix. Ridgway said Xybix’s offer remained the lowest quote and that the cost increase would be paid from bond proceeds and still fall below earlier budgeted estimates for consoles that had not been included in the bond project.
Commissioner Nathan Leiker moved "I move to authorize PO 7999 for $5,977.27 for the purchase of dispatch consoles and cabinets from Xybix." Commissioner Michael Berges seconded; the minutes record the motion as passing by voice vote three to zero. Commissioners and Ridgway discussed who was responsible for the sizing oversight; Ridgway said responsibility was shared between both parties and that he could not place the fault solely on the company. Ridgway also said the legs carry a 10-year warranty and that he will seek additional information from Xybix on surge-protection options.
