County approves perpetual agricultural conservation easements for two farms

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution No. 38 on June 24 to enter Agreements of Sale for perpetual agricultural conservation easements. The Dwight and Ashley Martin property in East Donegal Township (43.32 acres; 41.10 proposed for preservation) is eligible and has a state share of $164,400. The Smuckerland, LLC property (43.06 acres; 38.91 proposed for preservation) spans Upper Leacock and East Lampeter Townships and carries a state share of $134,472.96.
The resolutions certify each farm’s inclusion in the county Agricultural Security Area and authorize signing sale documents so the state and county shares can be applied as specified. The motions passed unanimously.
