Apollo outlines $6 million potential modernization grant, urgent-repair and ADA funding for district

Scott Lewis, a representative of Apollo (a division of Apollo Mechanical), presented grant opportunities and a delivery plan for potential modernization work at Washtucna schools. "We are in line for another, small rural school modernization grant, this time, for upwards of $6,000,000," Lewis said, and added that Apollo seeks to structure projects so districts have no out-of-pocket costs and state oversight ensures compliance.
Lewis also described complementary funding opportunities: an urgent repair grant "up to $600,000," ADA-compliance grants up to $140,000 and a Healthy Kids Healthy Schools playground grant the firm is assisting the district to pursue. He explained the five-step project process (preliminary analysis, investment-grade audit, 60% design, public bidding and construction) and projected a best-case timeline of planning funds in a supplemental 2026 budget and construction awarding in 2027 with work in 2028 if the district is funded.
