During the public-comment portion of the Jan. 26 meeting, resident Henry Joyce told the council that drivers frequently violate the no-right-on-red restriction at the Lantana Road and Dixie Highway signals, creating safety issues and queuing near the post office. Joyce urged enforcement and suggested the town could issue citations.
"About 80% of the drivers totally ignore the no right hand turn lane on red," Joyce said. Town staff acknowledged signage and enforcement concerns and said they would confirm required signage and messaging; one staff member said, "I'll get in touch with DOT tomorrow." Staff asked police to remind drivers and to review signal timing and signage compliance.
Council asked staff to follow up about signage and detection issues and to report back about possible enforcement or signaling adjustments.
