Maximum distance between the trunk, the minimum distance between speed bumps is 400 feet, and the maximum is 800," Mr. Crockett said, summarizing the county standard. Councilors raised emergency-response concerns and cited that properly designed speed tables can reduce vehicle trauma; staff said such tables cost about $13,000 apiece and recommended a phased replacement plan.
Staff said they will work with Palm Beach County and the town’s traffic engineer to bring the town into compliance while minimizing vehicle damage and preserving emergency access; the discussion produced directions for staff to phase replacements and coordinate siting.
