The Lantana Town Council on Jan. 12 voted unanimously to approve a $152,541 contract to furnish and install a prefabricated shelter at Mattock Park. Project manager Vanessa Holloway presented the item and told the council the town received seven bids and recommended the lowest responsible and responsive bidder.
"I'm here this evening to request your support to enter to an agreement with Con Builders Inc in the amount of $152,541 to furnish and install a prefabricated shelter at the Donbur," Vanessa Holloway said during her presentation, later noting that Kahn Builders Inc. was the lowest responsible and responsive bidder and that funding would come from a previously awarded Firdap grant and anticipated operational savings in the Public Services Department. Council member Rivera moved approval and Council member Cassel seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
The presentation included brief questions about prior work history and why a previously lowest bidder withdrew; Holloway said the bidder withdrew after being awarded multiple contracts elsewhere and was unable to take on the town's project. The council authorized the town manager to execute the agreement and any amendments.
The contract award was processed as a standard procurement item; staff did not identify any required approvals beyond the town manager’s execution authority and said grant funds were available to help cover the expense.
