Staff proposed a practical change to the pavilion rental process: allow modest green-space extensions for overflow seating (proposed limit: 40 chairs and up to six tables under tents) to be authorized via the regular rental process rather than sent to council each time.
"We would have no more than, 40 chairs," the clerk said while outlining the cheat sheet for pavilion rentals. The change is intended to reduce repetitive council approvals for modest extensions while preserving public access to parks.
Council members also discussed charging different fees for residents and nonresidents, following common municipal practice for rec-center rentals and sports leagues. Staff said fee differentiation is normal and can be incorporated into the rental and special-event fee schedule.
