The Board of Commissioners voted to award the electrical contract for the new Washington County public safety building to Klysta Electric of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for $5,563,950, the purchasing representative said.
The presentation listed added alternates for bridge power and lighting ($4,000), power for heated sidewalks ($8,200), deductions of $81,002.50 for aluminum in lieu of copper for utility fees, and $50,000 for a 4‑hour generator load bank test in lieu of a 72‑hour test. "This recommended bid met required specifications and with the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bid received," the purchasing representative said. The motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Purchasing staff said the work will be paid from 2024 general obligation bond funds and capital expenditure reserve funds as part of the project budget. The award allows the county to proceed with electrical contracting and integration with the overall construction schedule.
