Lantana council adopts ordinance banning unapproved commercial activity in town parks

The Lantana Town Council adopted an amendment to Chapter 17 on second reading that bars commercial activity in town parks unless specifically permitted by the town manager in writing or when the activity is part of a town-sponsored function. Staff member Max read the ordinance title and key provisions, saying the amendment would, among other things, prevent random vendors or sightseeing charters from using park property without authorization.
Mayor Karen Lithgow called for discussion and, hearing none, the council voted to adopt the ordinance on a 5-0 vote. The measure was described by staff as aimed at protecting park infrastructure (for example, avoiding damage to seawalls from loading/unloading activities) and reserving park space for town-approved events.
