Council OKs up to $400 for Halloween events; public comments include Kraft Building update and Oct. 19 Rotary walk

Alderman Paul Kaczmarski moved and the council approved a motion authorizing Halloween activities expenses not to exceed $400; the roll call vote was 6–0 in favor. The motion was procedural and intended to underwrite community festivities.
During general audience time Alderman Mike Risko said the Kraft Building had been shown several times recently and he would provide updates if a buyer is interested. Alderman Jody Wolber asked the council to consider banning leaf burning and having the street department sweep leaves up; Mayor Carl Bates said the council had previously looked at getting an attachment and agreed it was time to revisit that option. Amy Buss from the Rotary announced a walk to raise awareness for human trafficking on October 19, 2024.
