Council declines additional paving of South Mill Street, citing lack of funds

The Mount Carroll City Council voted on Aug. 27 not to proceed with additional paving of South Mill Street, citing insufficient funds.
Jared Fluhr of MSA told the council that using a single coat would reduce the cost; in response Alderman Jeff Elliott said, "we just don’t have the funds to do it." Alderman Elliott moved to not proceed; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with four yeses and two absences.
The council did not authorize a scaled-back project or set a timeline for revisiting the paving. No contractor or bid amounts were adopted at the meeting.
