Van Buren County supervisors elect officers, set 2026 meeting schedule

The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors met Jan. 2, 2026, at the county courthouse in Keosauqua for its annual organizational meeting. Chairman Meek opened the session and, on a motion by Supervisor Dale House seconded by Meek, the board approved the minutes of the Dec. 8, 2025 meeting (Ayes: 2).
On motion by House, seconded by Meek, the board elected Robert Waugh chairman of the board of supervisors for the 2026 calendar year; the same motion pattern elected Dale House as vice-chairman. The minutes record "Ayes: 2" for those motions. The board also set its regular meeting time for 9:00 AM on the second and fourth Mondays of each month for 2026.
The organizational session included routine administrative approvals that typically follow the opening of a new board year. The board announced upcoming work sessions for FY2027 budget work on Jan. 19 and 26 and additional February dates. The meeting adjourned at 10:06 AM.
