Lantana approves $31,305.06 access-control upgrade for town buildings

The Lantana Town Council voted unanimously on March 23 to purchase upgraded access-control hardware and installation services for three town buildings in Reynolds Circle.
Director Kaplan told the council the existing badge system had reached end of life, replacement parts are increasingly difficult to obtain, and continuing to maintain the old system posed a growing reliability and security risk. Staff recommended standardizing the town’s access-control solution with the Police Department’s current system to centralize credentials and batch management.
During questioning, council members pressed staff on locking delays and badge behavior; staff said the auto-lock timeframe could be adjusted to reduce the delay between door closure and automatic locking. Council member Jesse Rivera moved to approve the purchase from Integrated Fire and Security Solutions in an amount not to exceed $31,305.06 and to authorize the town manager to execute the agreement and any amendments; the motion was seconded and passed 5-0.
The town manager’s office said the project cost is appropriated in the FY2025–26 budget and that existing employee badges will migrate to the new system to minimize disruption.
