Council OKs $89,935 engineering review for water treatment clear well

The town approved CSA 2025-07 with Baxter & Woodman Inc. for engineering services totaling $89,935 to assess and design improvements for the water treatment plant clear well.
Presenters said the concrete clear well shows spalling and biofilm and requires both immediate and secondary interior work; an exterior set of improvements (coating and crack repair) may be bid as alternates if funds permit. The engineering contract will include sizing a bypass tank so the clear well can be taken out of service for repairs while maintaining system hydraulic capacity. "The inspection report identified 3 categories of recommended improvements, like, do it now, do it pretty quick, and then you can wait kind of a thing," the presenter said.
Council approved the CSA 5-0. Staff noted future projects might include raw-water well drilling at multi-million-dollar cost and additional ground storage tank inspections.
