The council voted 5-0 to award the Atlantic Drive Drainage Improvements construction contract to Trans Florida Development Corp. for $1,653,640.30. Staff said six bids were received and recommended Trans Florida as the awardee.
The town engineer and construction manager described the project area (north of Ocean to South Long Beach Curve), the need for easement acquisitions, and a phased approach to preserve access for residents. "We're splitting it... the same contractor doing the whole project, but we're splitting it to try and accommodate the people who live there," said the construction manager, who added that lane closures and flagger operations will be used and that emergency access would be maintained.
Staff said the design is complete, permits are in hand and preconstruction meetings are expected in early to mid-January. Council approved the award and authorized the manager to execute the agreement and any amendments.
