Mary Curtin, director of Suffield Community Aid, reported that the recent mail‑carrier food drive yielded a good amount of donations but less than in previous years. Curtin said SCA is working on its first strategic plan, which will include a community survey, volunteer focus groups and interviews with participants and community partners to inform future programming.
Curtin also summarized ongoing program activity: Parkinson’s support is on summer break while the caregiver support group continues; staff help residents with state program redeterminations, Rental Rebate enrollment, campership assistance and farmer market gift cards. Curtin emphasized there is continuing stress among residents related to affordability.
