City Manager Nicholas Payne delivered a multi-department operational report April 21 with updates on Fire/EMS, police, public works and parks. He said the Fire/EMS department is "awaiting scheduling from the State of Oklahoma to complete certification of the new ambulance" and that a temporary cot is in place while the permanent power cot is delayed; ladder-truck repair quotes coordinated with Kay County are expected to exceed $50,000.
Payne said the city secured five new police vehicles through Enterprise Fleet Management; vehicles are being upfitted and are expected to be deployed by the end of May contingent on no delays. The city also received two fleet vehicles under a lease-purchase and estimated $20,000–$30,000 in savings from an in-house bed/toolbox transfer. The Tonkawa Aquatic Center is about 75% filled and over 100 season passes have been sold; pool-party registrations launched April 17 with 25 bookings the first day. Other items in the report included a planned water-line repair on South 11th Street, a sinkhole inspection and a pause on implementing Tyler Technologies.
