Council renews city electric aggregation program; ordinance passes 9-1

The Belvidere City Council voted to renew its municipal electric aggregation arrangement with NIMAC under Ordinance 771h at the July 20 meeting. The ordinance, described on second reading as a six-year agreement with a two-year renewable clause, passed 9-1 after discussion of market conditions and anticipated benefits to residents.
"We will use the money that we be are able to obtain, $36,000 a year, on behalf of the city of Belvoir for the residents," the mayor said when presenting the ordinance. Alderman Brereton recorded the lone "no" vote during the roll call; no public comment was registered on the item.
