Committee moves sign-code tweaks to first reading; proposes 12-foot cap for monument signs

"So what we're suggesting with this code amendment is to put a 12 foot maximum height that's consistent with other sections of the sign code," Niven said, noting the cap prevents unbounded monument signs.
Councilmembers raised practical questions about hospital wayfinding and building-mounted signage; staff clarified that the 12-foot limit applies only to ground-mounted monument/pedestal signs and does not apply to building-mounted signs, which have other square-footage rules and campus sign package options. The committee voted to forward the amendment to the Aug. 11 first reading.
