Committee authorizes $50K contract authority increase for 2024 ADA retrofit program

John Cole told the committee the 2024 ADA retrofit program had encountered unanticipated force-account work — including demolition, replacement of walls and added asphalt to accommodate thicker-than-expected pavement — that created cost overruns. He said the total anticipated expenditures were about $429,009.85 and that the requested increase in contract authority was $50,000. "So the request is to increase the contract authority by $50,000," Cole said, adding the overall project budget remains within the previously anticipated $585,000 total.
Committee members asked for clarity on the numbers presented and staff explained the $50,000 increase applies to construction contract authority and does not require additional budget because contingency and other funding sources cover it. The committee voted to forward option 1 to the 08/11/2026 consent agenda.
