Risk Management recommended acceptance of insurance premium renewals for an estimated total cost of $514,102 for 2025, representing a $19,230 overall decrease from last year. The department said the primary driver of the decrease is insuring only one aircraft (the King Air) as the Turbo Commander is pending sale.
Elizabeth Wingo, director of risk management, told the board that the Health Department’s professional liability limits were increased midyear to $1,000,000 per claim and $3,000,000 aggregate to meet contract requirements. Wingo said some premium differences reflect the professions insured — for example, rates differ between ER physicians and psychiatrists because of differing risk profiles. The board moved to accept the renewals and approved them by recorded vote.
