The Board approved a $55,713 purchase for Monroe-brand snowplow blades from Master Tech Truck and Equipment using Sourcewell contract #0622228EB. Public Works said the Monroe and Hink brands provide the durable quick-hitch couplers compatible with the county’s fleet and that Master Tech was the only vendor able to supply blades in time for the season.
Cherry Martin, Superintendent of Highways, said some of the blades being replaced are likely 7–8 years old while others have lasted as long as about 14 years; replacements are routine because blades wear with use. The board moved, seconded and voted to accept the quote.
