Back-to-school event, two 5Ks and Touch & Tour planned; Main Street closures expected Sept. 12

Staff announced upcoming community events and provided dates and basic logistics: a back-to-school event hosted by the Sebastian Police Department at Riverview Park (Friday at 10 a.m.), the Fairway Sunset 5K at the golf course on Aug. 28 (6 p.m.), and a First Responders 5K and Touch & Tour on Sept. 12 beginning at 7:30 a.m. with Main Street closures planned for roughly 7–9 a.m.
"Sebastian Police Department has a back to school event this Friday at 10AM at the at Riverview Park," Richard said, listing vendors and giveaways. He added that the Fairway Sunset 5K is scheduled for Aug. 28 at the golf course and that the First Responders 5K historically runs in Cocoa Beach but will be hosted in Sebastian on Sept. 12 as part of Touch & Tour.
Staff said registration and fee information are available on the city website (citysebastian.org) and that fees for some runs will fund first-responder charities. The advisory board asked for route specifics; staff provided the start/end streets and said closures would be limited and brief.
The board also heard that Moonshot Mobile will attend Touch & Tour and that food trucks and a luncheon will be part of Parks & Recreation Month activities.
