Commission approves downtown facade grants and Duck Creek infrastructure funding

The Kane County Economic Opportunity Board requested and the commission approved two grant items on June 30: $25,000 to continue a façade/tenant-improvement/signage grant program (1:1 match) and $26,490 to support infrastructure work on a 10-acre Duck Creek Village parcel to grade the parking area and install a 400-amp service and water meter to support future public events and facilities.
Kelly Stoll, the county Economic Opportunity Board chair, explained that the façade program had more applicants than available funding and that Duck Creek's request would be used to prepare a publicly owned parcel for future events, restrooms and a potential community center. Commissioners approved both requests using Governor's Office economic development funds and directed staff to document program outcomes and match requirements.
