Council members and staff highlighted recent community emergency‑preparedness efforts during reports at the Oct. 13 meeting. A council member said the Be Ready Belvedere go‑bag giveaway on Oct. 10 'was a very successful event' where nearly all go bags were distributed, volunteers assisted residents with emergency‑alert signups and the city plans to focus next year on shelter‑in‑place advice.
Mayor Cooper and others noted complementary events: the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill (Oct. 17) and a 'get ready' event in the city park on Oct. 18 where residents can add supplies to go bags. Staff and volunteers — including local block captains and disaster‑coordinator partners — were thanked publicly for their support. "People appreciated the thought that went into the event," a council member said, describing resident feedback.
