The board approved the districts updated 2024–25 comprehensive safety plan. Superintendent Shay Caletti said the plan was revised by a safety committee to reflect state requirements, to add adaptations for students with disabilities, and to incorporate policies on bullying and discrimination. She told trustees the plan needs review by local emergency authorities (Cal Fire, sheriff) and that the district will implement training and at least one intruder drill by the end of the school year.
Caletti described short-term and year‑two deliverables: an abbreviated classroom evacuation guide and emergency checklist for teachers, and a plan to match classroom foldouts to the adopted safety plan. She also said the district has procured the Raptor visitor-management system and plans office-staff training and parent communication, targeting February for rollout. Trustees voted to adopt the safety plan and directed staff to seek local-authority input and return with any required amendments.
One board member asked whether parent input and adaptation for students with disabilities had occurred; Caletti said parent involvement remains an expansion area and that the safety committee will broaden membership to include parents.
