Westfir council to consider water and sewer rate change; operations report shows no facility problems

The Westfir City Council reviewed updates to the city's water and sewer policy that would implement a rate increase shown in the policy’s sample rate schedule effective July 1, 2026.
City Recorder Nicole Tritten said the only change she recommended to the policy was the rate increase and that the council could schedule a work session if they wanted further discussion; the council opted to vote to update the policy at the June 1 meeting. City Operator Bobby Archer reported no problems at either the water or wastewater facility for April 2026 and said he and Relief Operator Alberto Saraz would clean the sand filter at the water treatment plant during the extended stretch of good weather.
No formal vote on the rate change occurred at the May 4 meeting; the council will consider the policy and any rate changes at its June 1 meeting.
