Pioneer Continuation recommended for California Model Continuation High School; trustees recognize students and staff

PHS was recommended for the Model Continuation High School award by the visiting team; trustees also recognized students and staff from Foothill, Shasta Collegiate Academy and Pioneer during the Nov. 12 meeting.
Pioneer Continuation High School received notice that a visiting team has recommended it for recognition as a Model Continuation High School by the California Department of Education, district leaders told the board. Principal Tim Calkins said he expects to receive an official acknowledgement letter in January and reported that fifteen PHS students are projected to graduate at the end of the quarter.
The board also recognized Foothill High senior Veronika Burchfield, senior Madelyn Handley and Food and Beverage Manager Alex Aunchman, Shasta Collegiate senior Elizabeth Nelson, and Pioneer teacher Will Hyres for achievements and contributions. The recognitions were made with principals and trustees in attendance.
