The Westfir City Council approved Resolution 577 to appropriate grant funds received in a prior fiscal year into the current Sewer Fund.
City Recorder Nicole Tritten told the Council that a reimbursement payment for a forgivable loan was received in June 2025 but the engineer was not paid until July 2025, the next fiscal year. She explained that "grants for a specific purpose are an exception to Budget Law," and that the Council could appropriate the funds by resolution without a supplemental budget. Councilor Deretta Huey moved to approve Resolution 577; Councilor Jara Mouracade seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
The resolution permits the Sewer Fund to reflect the reimbursement as available resources for the fiscal year 2025–2026 budget; no additional spending instructions were recorded in the minutes.
