Public commenter Mr. Rothman, calling in by Zoom, said he found media coverage “esoteric” but raised the same practical point: “Why are the cost of energy going down and our charge is going up?” He asked the council to seek plain‑English explanations and consider a council‑backed request for more disclosure.
Council members did not take formal action on MCE governance at the meeting; the item served as a public report and a request that the city’s MCE representative continue advocating for transparency and for a governance review at the agency’s board level.
